Reiki is a wonderful holistic complementary modality for a person dealing with acute and chronic health issues or for a person’s health and wellness.
During a Reiki Session the person remains fully clothed while lying on a massage table. The practitioner places their hands with a light touch in a series of set Reiki hand positions on different parts of the recipient’s body. Energy flows for the persons highest and greatest good thus rebalancing the body’s energy fields; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Reiki has a cumulative affect and people have reported results in decreased stress levels, improved sleeping and eating habits, improved focus and concentration (especially among children) and pain relief. Reiki is safe and gentle for people of all ages and there are no contraindications in its use.
Similar to the targeted, consistent but calm methodologies as the practice itself, Joyce Willson, has slowly and steadily built up her business, The Art of Reiki, in Downtown Troy over the past 15+ years. Joyce began her practice as part of a Holistic Practitioners Group on Broadway, then moving to 1st Street, and in 2009 branched out on her own to her current location at 251 River St. Suite 401.
With a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from SUNY Plattsburgh and a Certificate in Complementary Therapy from Maria College, Joyce worked for 27 years as a Registered Professional Nurse. Her experiences as a RN included working with all audiences from month-old babies, young children and teenagers to adults and senior citizens in the acute hospital and community settings. What she found in her field was a desire to educate and incorporate holistic practice as a complement to traditional medical treatment.
Joyce is a certified Reiki Master Teacher in Usui and Karuna® Reiki, Integrated Energy Therapy® Master Instructor and is a Metatronic® Healing Practitioner, and Therapeutic Touch Practitioner. Over the years, she has seen an increased interest and desire from her clients for alternative therapies. Joyce offers private sessions for her clients as well as a variety of Reiki classes and IET classes for all ages at The Art of Reiki. Small hands-on classes for 4-6 people are offered. Sage students have used Joyce as a resource for their coursework, and she has offered classes for parents incorporating techniques that they can use with their children as well as classes for the general population.
