The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District proudly cut a ribbong to officially open Fratelli Barber Shop (172 River Street) on Thursday, April 14 at 1 p.m.

Owned by partners Francesco Stocchetti and Hunter Mensing, Fratelli in Italian translates to siblings, and in this case, brothers. The duo met four years ago cutting hair at a shop in Albany, and have been connected ever since, plying their trade together from the state capital to East Greenbush, and now Troy. Stocchetti and Mensing pride themselves on offering customers great service in a relaxing environment, and of course a top-notch barbering experience.

“When the opportunity first arose to settle in Downtown Troy, it immediately became a mission,” said Mensing. “Helpful friends and kind strangers have helped this vision grow into what it is today! Above all else this community of people and businesses feels like a home, and we strive to reciprocate every bit of support we have received back to our neighbors!”

“I’ve always dreamed about opening up a barbershop but never actually planned on doing it,” said Stocchetti. “Having a family to support and take care of made my passion grow. I am extremely grateful for them and a business partner who shares the same values as me which has made a dream turn into a reality.”

“It’s wonderful to see Francesco and Hunter open up shop on Lower River Street,” said Geoff Brault, Executive Director, Downtown Troy Business Improvement District. “Their commitment to service and supporting fellow businesses in the neighborhood make them the perfect addition to this vibrant part of our city.”

Fratelli Barber Shop is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday, until 6:30 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on weekends. They offer a full menu of men’s grooming services, including kids cuts. To learn more, follow the shop on Instagram at @fratelli.barbershop.
